Woman misses train at 11 PM, friend refuses to let her stay over because she has an exam the next day: 'I did not feel like it was my problem'

A crisis will always show you who your real friends are.

Plenty of friendships have fallen apart simply because they could not withstand how somebody reacted when a person they are supposed to care about went through a hard time. One of the most important parts of friendship and of community in general is the fact that you are able to give and receive favors and have a support network when you need it. 

As with any relationship, we have to find out via trial and error who we can count on, and who we probably shouldn't have befriended in the first place. It's unfortunate that this is the case, but some people give great first impressions and then end up being the biggest disappointments. 

Of course, there are examples of friends who act entitled and take more than they should, but that is not the same for everybody. For the most part, we should be willing to step up for those we care about when they are going through something, especially if it is an emergency. That is what friends do, or at least, they are supposed to. Sometimes these relationships are an inconvenience, but one that you should be glad of.

I understand you guys said you wouldn't allow overnight guests, but I have to imagine there would be a difference between somebody coming to visit and somebody stuck in a different city with no place to stay I guess you're technically right, but you're absolutely not a good friend.   • Hopeful-Material4123 Wowwwww....yeah, it is a good rule to have to not have overnight guests but emergencies exist. As long as your friend was super quiet and stayed in your room, it would not be an issue. Your roommate would just have to get over it.
